Our Reporting Principles

Anti-Colonialist Reporting: We understand that colonialism is the ultimate manifestation of concentrated power. We understand that journalism has the responsibility of communicating to the people their relationship to systems of power. We understand that if we as journalists are to challenge power, we must understand that power is colonialism and that journalism must be anti-colonial.

We understand that engaging in anti-colonialism means engaging in resistance to the colonial machine. Since an integral arm of colonialism is the perversion of mass media through manufacturing consent, we view our journalism as inherent and necessary resistance against colonialism.

Pan-Africanist Reporting: We primarily cover politics relating to the African Diaspora in a way that is understandable and relatable to young African and African-descended people. We believe that all anti-colonial struggles across the African Diaspora are interconnected in a wider effort against colonialism and that it is our responsibility to present the interconnections.

Accessible Journalism: We believe that information and journalism should be accessible to everyone. Therefore, our journalism will always remain free and we will consistently develop our platforms to be increasingly accessible to all populations.
